Twinkle and Binkle, The Starr News: Olivia Giles turns 14 January 21, 2012

Olivia Giles turned fourteen on January 21, 2012. She is a beautiful young woman, full of goodness and fun. As the oldest, she lives up to the part of being helpful and responsible and for that her parents are grateful. We celebrated her presence in our family by throwing a party with friends. The theme was "Hello Kitty" an animated cat who likes her hair accessories! Activities were theme related. First, we decorated sugar cookies shaped like hair bows and flowers! Second, was a cat walk. Each party guess stood on a designated number written on the face of Hello Kitty. When the music played, the guests walked the circle. When the music ended, everyone stopped. A number was drawn and the winner got to pick from the "Hello Kitty Store!" The store contained fun prizes like hello kitty bandaids, toothbrushes, candy and calendars. A guessing game was also played. Twenty-one hair bows were placed in a jar. Each guest wrote their guess on a sticky note. The closest guess was awarded a prize. Items were placed in a pillowcase for the final game. These items were feline related such as cat food, yarn, stuffed cat and more. Without looking, each guest got to feel the item through the pillowcase and attempt a guess. The winner was awarded a prize. After the game, cupcakes were served and presents were distributed. It was fun for all and next year we'll celebrate with Garfield! :))

Grandma's comments: Olivia is a wonderful young lady, very helpful with her seven siblings, especially the three youngest ones, Lucy (6) Cumorah (3) and Caleb (baby). She is also a avid reader. I was looking for books to read and she suggested the 4 books called The Missing. They are by Margaret Haddix. Ms. Haddix researches historical facts about certain people and time periods, uses this information, fills in the voids, plus adds a little science fiction combined with relationships. It's for younger people, but I enjoyed it anyway.
Olivia likes to sing, and has sung solos and duets at school concerts. Grandpa and I were able to attend one where both Olivia and Liz sang. She likes to draw and placed well at the Adam's County Fair. She likes to perform and has participated in several threatrical productions in Othello. She has played soccer, did a cheerleader routine, and other activites. She also likes to write.
Grandpa and I are proud of the young lady she has become and love her very much. Yeh for Olivia.
