Gary and Hiromi's 19th Anniversary

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY GARY AND HIROMI,
After a bit of confusion as to what day their anniversary was, either the 23 or the 26, it was finally determined that it was the 26 of March. That would be the 26 of March in Japan, however it would have been the next day here with the time variance between the two countries.
We celebrated with a reception here on the 31 of July in the Rose Street Chapel. It was a lovely reception and I remember the two of them entertaining us with a song they had sung together.
Quote from his dad:
"Gary went on a mission to Japan where he met Hiromi and baptized her. I remembers when he came home he was like a lost child and after we received a few phone calls from a young lady who spoke with very broken English it became apparent to me that she was more than just a friend. After being home for several weeks Gary told us he was going on a camping trip with several of his friends. What really happened was he flew back to Japan to ask this young lady’s parents for their permission to marry her. The years have proven this to be a very good decision on his part. They now live in Cheney, WA and Gary teaches languages in the high schools in Spokane, WA."
Quote from his mom:  What I remember is that he had borrowed a friend’s car, which had "stick shift." Never having driven a "stick shift" he somehow managed to get to the airport, get to Japan, receive permission from a reluctant father, and return home with plans to be married. Does love 'drive' a man to do the nearly impossible? Hmm.

Happy Anniversary
