We've had a few days of fun at the Goodrich residence, having welcomed family visitors; Pegi, the fair wicken of the north, and a darling little elfin princess named Addison. Larry, the goblin king, and I, the good witch, along with impish elfs Philip, Alexander, and William, were happy to have Larry's grown daughter, Pegi Jo Goodrich, and her four-year-old daughter, Addison Jo Goodrich, spend a portion of their vacation at our humble home. They arrived the evening of Wednesday, May 2nd and spent five days with us.

While the adults did a fair share of visiting, the elfin princess kept the elfin boys on their toes brandishing plastic swords, playing on the swingset, blowing giant soap bubbles, running around the block, racing video game characters, wrestling giant teddy bears and feeding crackers and sunflower seeds to the birds. I think William found his match in endless chatter!

We watched our fair share of movies too,
snacking on pizza, popcorn, and ice cream. Thanks, Princess Addison, for batting those long eyelashes and convincing your mommy to run to the store for ice cream! Chocolate chunk....
peanut butter cup.....
toffee bits!!!

On Friday the Goblin king drove Pegi and Addison to their favorite tucked-away water hole out in the middle of nowhere. Deer Springs. There they fished for the entire day. This was a birthday present for Pegi. (We did feed her cake and ice cream and sing 'Happy Birthday to You' a few days earlier. I have proof.....pictures!)

The three fishers had a nice day on the lake despite persistent, cold winds. But, at least it didn't rain! They were successful in catching a few trout; six in all. Apparently Princess Addison possessed the magic touch, reeling in and netting the majority. Way to go, little girl!

Addison with her catch! Okay, maybe one was mommy's.
And maybe grandpa caught a couple little ones. |

On Saturday, May 5th, Cinco De Mayo, we celebrated with a spicy feast! Larry smoked the trout they caught the night before along with two whole chickens, pork ribs, and a pork roast. Pegi bar-b-qued some 'skinny meat' as they like to call the super thin slices of beef. She stirred up a skillet of chicken fajitas and another of beef fajitas as well. She spent a large portion of her afternoon at the kitchen table chopping up weeping onions, red tomatoes, hot peppers, and fresh cilantro, mixing it all together with some lemon juice to make a wonderful homemade salsa. Dinner was a feast leaving enough leftovers to last for days..........and days, and days and days. Man, it was good, though!

Like all good things, vacations eventually must come to an end. Pegi, the fair wicken of the north, and Addison, the darling little elfin princess, packed up their things on Sunday morning and headed back to Montana. We sure enjoyed their visit - the playtime, the food, the fishing, the movies, the conversation - and look forward to the next one.

Sunday, May 6 Richelle and Larry shared some of that fabulous food Larry, Pegi, and Richelle had prepared earlier. Lanny especially liked the smoked chicken and I liked the beef with green peppers and onions, the creamed chicken with red and green peppers and onions, and pineapple with the smoked chicken. Angie must have liked the food. She ate four burritos, two stuffed with the beef and two stuffed with the chicken. Is this making anyone hungry?
Thanks for sharing dinner with us.
Mom
There was lots and lots of good food! That's for sure!
