Micah has a birthday December 30, 2013

MICAH GILES
Micah likes football; it seems he has always had a football in his hands tossing it back and forth from one hand to the other.  He can tell you a great deal about professional football and the rules of the game.  He comes by it naturally since his father was a football player in high school and is still very much interested in it.  Micah along with his two younger brothers are on football teams in school.

He likes many other things too, and has lots of great attributes.  Grandpa and I are proud of the young man he has become and wish him a very Happy Birthday.  We have a poem for you which is obviously by an amateur, me, Grandma, but enjoy it anyway.  We also have a short video using the movie maker for the first time, but the actors and actress are a heap of fun to watch as they play a game of home-style football.  It also demonstrates Micah's love for football and for his siblings, and their love for the game.  Enjoy your blog page, Micah, and if you want to respond, please do so.  We'd love to hear what you have to say.

MICAH, BASEBALL, SOCCER AND FOOTBALL

Micah is a rare breed, yes, he is for certain, indeed;
And when they spanked him at birth to get a peep,
He puckered and pulled back his lips and began to call,
"Hike!" He clutched his hands as if to pass a football.

Two, four, six, eight, fifty-two and twenty three,
He stammered out numbers with a joyous glee.
All stood in amazement as this baby could talk.
 Micah then straightened his feet as if to walk.

He grew quickly from a baby to a toddler of two,
And claimed his first real ball, a ball that was blue.
Two turned to five which meant he could finally play,
T-Ball and for him that was the beginning of a new day.
Micah was first in the family to play on a soccer team,
He was fast and able to play as he so often dreamed.
He whizzed passed players kicking the ball all the way,
Closer and closer he came to making three points that day.
From T-ball, through soccer, and finally to football,
He eagerly slid into the game with the oddly shaped ball.
Caressing it possessively he raised the ball up high,
And threw it hard across the field to his Uncle Bri.

What excitement he had from throwing the football;
And when it was returned to him he was ready for all.
Already he knew the rules of the game down to the letter,
He vowed to himself he would make a team even better.
The day had at last arrived and he eagerly took his position,
Of the cornerback and prepared himself for any interception.
"Blue 18, Blue 18, set ... hike," the quarterback said,
Who caught the ball, darted right, pushed and off he fled.

He ran fast, pushed, shoved, and gained twenty-two yards,
before being tackled by several and going down quite hard.
Again and again the ball was in play and players sought,
To make the touchdown without being tackled or caught.
What a great game thought Micah, as he raced down the field
Holding onto the ball, passing players and not willing to yield.
He was fast as he wound through maze of boys and over ground,
Determined to cover the last eight yards and make a touchdown.
Did he make a touchdown that day and score big for his team?
He was fast on his feet dodging boys and flying low it did seem.
That was the day he was tossed the ball, fought well and slipped thru'.
 Never letting go of the ball 'til he past over the goal line and knew.
"Go Micah, Go Huskies, shove'em over and push through,
"That's the way, go Micah, watch that guy coming at you!"
He could hear his mother cheering from the side line,
As he crossed over and into the end zone and felt just fine.
The games are over, the football season had sadly come to a close;
That day belonged to them, out came the cameras, and time to pose.
Team Huskies did their one, two, three, yeah for the other team,
And each and every one was walking on "Cloud 9" it did seem.

Micah went off happily as a kid opening gifts on Christmas morning,
Never stepping outside of his football peripheral vision of yearning.
With a football in his hands, tossing it from one hand to the other,
Anxious for next ball season and a game with his sister and brothers.
